     called Betsy Bell and Mary Gray also one half acre lot of wood  
     land lying on the north west side of ____ containing 15 acres  
     being the half of lot No. 10, also one lot in the town of  
     Staunton & one forth acre being half of Lot No. 5 bounded on  
     the north by Fenwick Street, on the east by Augusta Street, on  
     the south by _____ of said lot No. 5 and on the west by lot  
     No. 9 which two lots were conveyed to Sampson and  George  
     Mathews by Arch. Mathews by deed bearing date the 17th of July  
     1770 and also another lot in said town of Staunton including  
     the Lot No. 5 agreeable to a plan in said town recorded July  
     court 1786 containing half an acre together with about 20 feet  
     off of the lot No. 4 extending from Augusta Street to lot No.  
     7 and bounded on the South by Robert Gambells lot, the residue 
     of the lot No. 4 which last said lot No. 5 was conveyed from  
     Joseph Kennedy to the aforesaid Sampson and George Mathews by  
     deed bearing date the 19th day of November 1760 All which  
     conveyances are resident in the County Court of Augusta.  The  
     aforesaid 560 acres of land and the lots aforesaid having been  
     purchased by such Sampson, George Mathews as aforesaid and the  
     said George having since purchased from the said Sampson all  
     his right, title and Interest in and to the said lands and  
     lots hereby intended to be conveyed to the said Hugh Donaghe 
     Wit: Chesley Kinney, Vincent Tapp, Alexr. S. Lyle, Thoms.  
     Turk, William Kinney
     Memo:  Before signing it is undescided between the said  
     Mathews and Donaghe that there is a small interference with  
     the lines on the aforesaid 560 acres and the lines of Robert  
     McClanachans lines adjoining thereto and if the said  
     interference should not accasion sd Donaghe to loose more than  
     30 acres, said Mathews is not bound to make it good, but for  
     any quantity above 30 acres he is bound.

     This Indenture of Bargain and Sale from George Mathews to Hugh  
     Donaghe was proved by the oaths of Chesley Kinney, Vincent

9 May 1801  Know all men by these presents that I Hugh Donaghe of  
     the County of Augusta am held and firmly bound unto Peter  
     Elliott of the county aforesaid in the sum of three thousand  
     three hundred pounds lawful money of Virginia to be paid unto  
     the said Peter Elliott his certain attorney his Executors,  
     administrators or assigns for the payment of which I bind  
     myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these  
     presents:  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and  
     Seal the ninth day of May - - 1801.
     The Condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas the  
     said Hugh Donaghe hath bargained and sold unto the said Peter  
     Elliott two certain Lots or parcels of land situate in the  
     Town of Staunton, will appear by certain Covenant intered into  
     between the sd. parties bearing date the third day of April  
     last past, and deposited in the hands of Vincent Tapp for safe  
     keeping; which said two Lots are the same which was (with  
     other lands) conveyed from George Mathews to the said Hugh  
     Donaghe by Deed of Bargain and Sale bearing date the 4th day  
     of April 1800 recorded in the Office of the County Court of  
     Augusta.  Now therefore the said Hugh Donaghe shall make, or  
     cause to be made and execute unto the said Peter Elliott his  
     heirs or assigns, legal and sufficient deeds conveyance in fee  
     simple, of and to the aforesaid Lots, with their  
     appurtenances, as soon as Eight hundred and fifty pounds  
     lawful money of Virginia with the legal interest thereon from  
     the third day of April last untill payment shall be fully paid  
     and discharged then the above Obligation shall be void or  
     shall remain in full force and virtue.    Hugh Donaghe  Seal

     This title bond from Hugh Donaghe to Peter Elliott was proved  
     by the oaths of Vincent Tapp and Hezekiah Jones the  
     witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded.
     Memorandum of Agreement made and concluded on between Hugh  
     Donaghe and Peter Elliott both of the county of Augusta, this  
     third day of April 1801.  Witnesseth that the said Hugh  
     Donaghe hath this day caused bargained and sold unto the said  
     Peter Elliott, the two Lots in the Town of Staunton together  
     with their buildings and other appurtenances, being the two  
     Town lots which were lately conveyed from George Mathews to  
     the sd Donaghe and of record in the Office of the District  
     Court held in Staunton, and which lots are further known by  
     the Stable lot on the corner of Augusta and Frederick Streets,  
     and the other on the East side of Augusta Street opposite  
     thereto, in the occupancy of Lawrence _____ & William, for  
     which lots ___ with __nant to convey or cause to be conveyed  
     by good and Sufficient Deed or Deeds in fee simple, unto the  
     said Peter Elliott his heirs, - etc. - to pay - - unto the  
     said Hugh Donaghe - - the sum of £1650, to be discharged in  
     the following manner and form to wit, first the house and lot  
     whereon the said Peter Elliott now lives, with its  
     appurtenances, situate in the said Town of Staunton on the  
     East side of New Street, between, and adjoining the property  
     of James Edmonson and John Wayt, at the value of £800, a legal  
     & Sufficient Deed of conveyance in fee simple of the said lot  
     to be executed by the said Elliott unto the said Donaghe at  
     the next April Augusta Court, and the balance of the whole  
     purchase money then being £850 lawful currency of Virginia, is  
     to be paid unto the said Hugh Donaghe his certain attorney - -  
     in Six equal annual pauments, with Legal Interest from the  
     date of these presents- -

     This Article of agreement between Hugh Donaghe and Peter

     Bailey of same whereas Robert Bailey did on the 11th of May  
     1801 execute a conveyance on Trust for a lot in Staunton being  
     a part of lot number 9 which was conveyed from Joshua Posey  
     and Anne his wife to John McDowell by deed dated 2 May 1799  
     and recorded in court, and afterwards sold by the said John  
     McDowell and Isabella his wife to John Shelton McClenanhan who  
     sold the same to the said Robert Bailey, unto the aforesaid  
     Chesley Kinney and Vincent Tapp, to secure the payment of a  
     debt due to Hugh Donaghe by the said Robert Bailey anounting  
     to the sum of £275 10 shillings, whereas Robert Bailey hath  
     fully paid the aforesaid Hugh Donaghe the debt of £275 with  
     Interest due thereon Received of Robert Bailey the sum of £275  
     ten shillings together with the legal Interest thereon, it  
     being in full of a debt due me from said Robert Bailey for  
     which a deed in Trust was exd. by the said Bailey bearing date  
     the 11th day of May 1801 to the aforesaid Kinney & Tapp as  
     Trustees given under my hand this 30th day of April 1804.

     and a quantity of Wheat and rye in the Stack the property of
