The LAMGSTON family of Bibb Co., AL, disagrees with my interpretation
of who this Mary WILSON was. They claim her mother was not a daughter
of John BLAKE Sr. Fact - Mary (BLAKE) WOOD, widow of Penuel WOOD,
married in 1827 John WILSON and their children should have been
listed in John BLAKE's estate, if living. They were listed.
Fact - I have found only one Mary WILSON in the 1850 census of Bibb
Co. and she was aged 14 and living with the family of Stephen
JOHNSON. Stephen JOHNSON was a step-son of Elizabeth BLAKE who
married Stephen's father, Hardy JOHNSON Sr., as his second wife.
Elizabeth married Hardy when Stephen was under two years old and
would be the only mother he would remember. It is most logical
for John's granddaughter to be with someone in his family as both
of her parents appear to have died. Since it is logical have OUR
Mary living with Stephen, a relative, and there was only one in
the area, this should be settled. But as there is only one to be
found in the area, they have claimed her as theirs and the
daughter of a different woman. They have furnished no proof yet
and I feel they must find some before they can make this claim
valid. I have proof that WE have a Mary here, AS WE SHOULD HAVE.
I have logical circumstantial evidence for my interpretation, they
have produced none. They claim that Mary WILSON was born and lived
for a while in Shelby Co. until her parents died and then she went
to another county (Bibb) to live with Stephen Johnson, whose mother
was related to the WOOD family. They must justify this claim that
"their Mary WILSON" was not "our" Mary WILSON. We have a record
that Mary WILSON was an heir of John BLAKE Sr. and the only way for
this to be was that her mother was John's daughter.

to Attala Co., MS, and probably died there before 1860. His wife
(widow) was listed in Oktibbeha Co., MS, in 1860 with a daughter,
Frances. In MS, John was listed as a farmer.

time as John Blake and his wife Tabitha. In the 1850 Census of
Shelby Co., Nancy Horton was 25. These two girls can fit into
the ages of John's children in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. They
are too old to fit into the families of Thomas C. or Madison who
are first listed in the 1840 census.
